Mystifying Limericks about Religious Problems
Limericks about Greek Myths and Heroes
If you’re a fan of conventional limericks, you may be accustomed to something more lightweight and laughable. But this series of limericks about darkness and sorrow ventures down the road less traveled. Uncommon territory for limericks perhaps, but a region all too familiar to the human soul.
Indeed, it seems at times as if we’ve been put on this world to suffer. Not every moment in life is a joy and a pleasure. But sometimes those moments of darkness can provide the most valuable education.
Obfuscation
As shadows are cast they establish apartness
Beware of the light and the surfeit of sharpness
The sunshine can blind you
But moonbeams remind you
So take a step back and retreat into darkness
The Enemy
I have an acquaintance who sometimes appears
Whispering rumors of gloom in my ears
The discouraging voice
It leaves me no choice
But to wait till the dark cloud of hopelessness clears
The Kundabuffer Organ
There’s a primitive relic that hangs at your feet
To remind you of weakness and moral defeat
An ugly detail
The ancestor’s tail
But without it a man would be what? Incomplete!
Kundalini
There’s a serpent entwined in the life-giving core
Sinking down low but outstretching for more
From Satan’s dark tail
To the last open veil
All frequencies humming to stir every pore
A Sickness Unto Death
The self as a spirit condemned to despair
Temporal, eternal, two aspects we share
It wears down the patience
To sort these relations
Though some never notice, they’re so unaware
Meeting Mephistopheles
A Faustian bargain produces results
Concerning the greed of consenting adults
But they suffer the cost
When their souls have been lost
And lightning comes striking in thunderous bolts
The Shadow Knows
A saboteur lingers outside in the cold
But the curse that he carries is worth more than gold
It’s worse to deny it
So why don’t you try it
Invite him and welcome him into the fold
Unbearable Lightness
The sky knows no bounds for the heavenly lark
The grass never wilts when you walk through the park
But joy has no place
Until sorrow you taste
For you can’t see the light till you’ve stood in the dark
No More Lies
Disturbing the darkness the light intercedes
Exposing the source of nefarious deeds
Where monsters have slept
With their secrets swell-kept
In the shadowy corners where wickedness breeds
