Limericks and Poetry about Moby Dick
Limericks about Native American mythology
When we stop and listen closely, we can hear that little voice, and we know the right thing to do. But when we’re not careful, that singular voice gets drowned out by the sound of detractors. Sometimes we’re aware of just two counselors, arguing back and forth. At other times, it’s a whole cacophony of outspoken agents, tugging us in multiple directions and dragging us down.
Most of us are familiar with the muddled results we get when decisions are made by committee. But that’s an apt description of how our minds operate. Internal bargains and compromises can leave every stakeholder dissatisfied. Is it possible then to reach a consensus, or recognize one point of view that’s genuinely superior to all the rest?
The following limericks are about those inner voices and the struggle to distinguish the message of truth from the uproar of interference. But don’t take MY word for it. This is a quest for you and you alone.
Messenger Service
There’s no need for ritual, doctrine or fear
Whenever you’re ready the truth will appear
Prepare to receive it
And then you’ll believe it
The prophecy comes like a voice in your ear
Inside Job
A chorus of voices may whisper and shout
From the back of your mind raising questions and doubt
But never give in
To the skeptics within
When you call them by name you can drive them all out
Verified Vigilance
Some dreams, they tell us, will never come true
Some visions our demons will always undo
But don’t be misled
By the fiends in your head
Keep faith in the voice of the Never Untrue
Two Souls in one Breast
There’s a voice from within that can move us
Designed to advise and improve us
But I have to confess
When my feelings regress
There’s just not enough room for the two of us
Soft Resilience
Shadows will draw you below your true station
With weakness and lack of sincere dedication
Be mindful instead
Of that voice in your head
Resounding in moments of deep contemplation
Recollections
On dark murky waters an iceberg comes drifting
A body of memories dangerously shifting
Casually spoken
The surface is broken
The voice can be frigid, disturbed or uplifting
